We're having our first blast of winter in Austin. Yes, anything below hoodie-wearing weather is winter around here. Friday is a high of 39 with a chance of flurries! That's going to be all that anyone is talking about for the next 4 days. I personally don't know how anyone lives north of here and deals with this kind of weather on a regular basis. After one or two winters here, even Northerners will start complaining about 40 degree days.
The nice thing about central Texas is that it will dip down this cold (and this is about as cold as it will get) and then go back up to the 60s or 70s again to give us a little respite. It's like we get a little taste of the cold without having to suffer through 4 months of it. I will put up with the summers from hell as long as I don't have winters from hell.
The one downside is that I happen to LOVE jackets. I had to get rid of most of the ones I collected in frigid San Francisco when I moved here. And the only thing that I've ever been able to figure out how to knit is a scarf, which is great here if you're into sweaty necks.
